Leslie's last day?

Early Sunday morning at the Rocks. Expecting so much more than what actually showed. Other than late wednesday evening up in NWW, this entire swell event has been a disappointment.

Crossings

I'm 3/4 through this and its one of those books that's hard to put down. If your into 4-star hotels, luxury yachts, all inclusive resorts and glossy photos of perfect reef breaks, this book is definitely not for you. But, if your a fan of tales of those mysto locales that you may only get a tiny glimpse of in a National Geographic, it just may be your cup of tea. Mr. Kew is a fine storyteller and has the ability to feed the dreamworld of any true surf/travel nut with only the written word. Oh, and he's an Andreini fan as well! Highly recommend you grab a copy at  http://peathead.blogspot.com/

Waves were tiny....

yesterday morning so after a little paddling exercise, came home and got to work around the house. Nice weekend just hanging out around the homestead.
Cactus bed expansion with pompas grass addition. Barb tried to see how many "barbs" she could get in her hands by trying to move the prickly pears herself... Lots of tweezer work last night!

Dogs and smores! Yum : )

New neighbors....

A new family has been hanging around the area the last few days. First time they came up in our yard. Glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Thoughts of an old friend....

While saying good-bye to Charlie the other night at the C-view one of the boys brought up the subject of me breaking my old favorite at Povs a few years ago. I still get crap about surfing her there but we'd had so many fun waves at Poverty, it was one of those places were I felt like there wasn't anything we couldn't handle together. We'd surfed bigger swells both here and in Nicaragua with zero issues. It just happened that on that fateful day, one of those grinding barrels had her name on it and took her from me. I can still remember that sick feeling when I came up and saw her in two pieces.

Fair winds CHUCK D.

Another one of our USCG brethren has departed the Rocks line-up. "Onward and upward" has taken several of our brightest personalities away from us over the last year and a half. Charlie heads north to New London, CT where the USCG will turn this fine CG Chief into a Officer.  All the best to you Charlie. Mahalos for all the stoke and friendship over the last several years. We're gonna miss ya.
