A few from the bayou...

Just received a few photos of Johnson Bayou, LA from the bayou ripper Shawn "SBO" Garry. Last week he's scoring in NorCal and now he's blowing up in the Gulf.  The man is a swell magnet.

Shawn said it was,"Waist to chest, and going bonkers in the 83 degree swamp water."

Laissez les bons temps rouler! :)

Saturday morning...

showed up with nice clean little lines, offshore breezes, and no crowd. Peter and I had it all to ourselves for about an hour until some of the other guys showed. Super fun little log'n swell. Water's still warm but the breeze kept it on the chilly side. Fun fall surf at the Rocks.

Rocks LB grom, Peter Mayer slides a nice clean little right.

Peter again, out on the tip and flying!

Jim C. paddles out on his 9'8" YYZ. :)

Rob G. slides left...

46 years down....

Lonni and Matt's wedding, a surprise appearance by our buddy Greg Shannon and then an awesome surf session for my #46 this morning, made for one awesome weekend. The only bummer was that my camera battery died before I could grab a few photos of the waves. You'll have to trust me, it was good!

Caught the bridge opening this AM but had a nice view during the wait.

New Cleveland, Ohio resident CWO2 Greg Shannon back at the Rocks where he was tearing it up just like he always does. Great to have him back in the line-up, even if it was just for a few days. Miss ya Amigo.

Sunday afternoon

Photo: Yukon
Missed out on the morning due to family obligations but managed to get over to the Rocks in the late afternoon. There was a bit of size on some sets and the crowd was quite thick. Yukon was out on the rocks and snapped a few of yours truly. While I appreciate the photos, I look at them and the only thing I see is that I need to go on a diet!  :o

I must recant...

OK, Leslie wasn't a total disappointment after all. Ended up in N. Wildwood late Sunday and finally found those offshores I was jonesing for. Clean waist to head high and just smoking fast. Took my 9'10" YYZ expecting it to be smaller but it turned out that being able to get in early really set me up for some fat, fun, fast lefts. Then... last night, going on a text from a friend I ended up back at the Rocks. A long walk in from the USFW trail showed what looked like a clean, offshore, waist high at best, wave just dumping on the sandbars. Since I'd brought my 7'9" and not one of my longer boards, I figured I was in for a blah session. As I walked down toward the water a set rolled in and just lit up the crew sitting inside. After that, it was a race to find an open spot in the crowd and wait for more of what I'd just seen to arrive. They came, I got into some awesome stand-up straight overhead lefts and what a session it was. Surfed till sunset and ended up all the way down next to the Rocks with Jeff Walden. Watching Jeff just flying on the rights down there was a true treat. I managed to get into one big right down that way that was by far one of the better backhand waves I've had all year. Sadly, I left the camera in the car, a choice I quickly came to regret with all of the great views out there. Aloha.

Leslie's last day?

Early Sunday morning at the Rocks. Expecting so much more than what actually showed. Other than late wednesday evening up in NWW, this entire swell event has been a disappointment.

Crossings

I'm 3/4 through this and its one of those books that's hard to put down. If your into 4-star hotels, luxury yachts, all inclusive resorts and glossy photos of perfect reef breaks, this book is definitely not for you. But, if your a fan of tales of those mysto locales that you may only get a tiny glimpse of in a National Geographic, it just may be your cup of tea. Mr. Kew is a fine storyteller and has the ability to feed the dreamworld of any true surf/travel nut with only the written word. Oh, and he's an Andreini fan as well! Highly recommend you grab a copy at  http://peathead.blogspot.com/

Waves were tiny....

yesterday morning so after a little paddling exercise, came home and got to work around the house. Nice weekend just hanging out around the homestead.
Cactus bed expansion with pompas grass addition. Barb tried to see how many "barbs" she could get in her hands by trying to move the prickly pears herself... Lots of tweezer work last night!

Dogs and smores! Yum : )
