Set out to enjoy a few days away from home, school and work. Found a 274 year old mill farm that has an adjoining cottage with some interesting American history. LB was stoked because he's a pig fan and the owner turned it into a pet pig farm.
I love diving back in time and re-reading old surf mags. Have a crate full of em and I dig into it quite often. Once in a while I read an article that transports my memory back to a special place in time or maybe its an ad that make me think, "Wow! Were my shorts really that short?" LOL
So today I'm relaxing with the November 84' issue of Surfer and come across a G&S ad that featured Hank Warner and some funky 1980s shirt designs. I stopped for a moment to read the caption below and came across Joe Grottola's name. Too weird! I just spent a couple hours at Grant St. in CM yesterday trading glassy little lefts with Joe. Next time I see him I have to ask if he ever got any of those "funning around" shirts. ;)
Our first couple of dates didn't really work out. You know, things just weren't quite right between us. So we got together again this week and everything really started to mesh. Pretty sure I made it to first base. Oh Yeah!
Bought a Hobie Surfboards towel a few months ago on Ebay and have messaged back and forth with the seller off and on since. Our last correspondence was a few weeks ago when Hobie passed away. Today I get home from work and find a large priority mail envelope in my mailbox. Inside were various S. California news articles on Hobie Alter and misc. surf related items all from a guy I've never met. Just a fellow ocean lover who was kind enough to pass along some ALOHA to a stranger across the country.
Many Mahalos Hunter. You are one righteous dude! :)
There it was, just laying against a new neighbor's shed. I knew the deal; Young family, just moved in, storage space limited... Here I am, just a few doors down and I knew that I had space in the racks for another vintage slider. I had to do something. :)
