A little glass

With the warm winter we had up to last week, I almost forgot what sub 40 degree water felt like. Yep, its still cold. Fortunately, with some nice clean little left and right slides, it didn't take long to warm up. Fun, micro zippers with a few waist sets rolling in. Mostly knee to thigh but pure glass!

Roach came by with this little baby last night. It was given to him by a friend who had no use for it and Roach dropped it here for some much needed tag team TLC. Have to say, this will be by far the biggest board repair job I have ever tackled. While the rails and the deck look simple, that underbelly is going to be a challenge x10. Still trying to decide where to start. So far my first step was to log in on the Foam EZ website and start building a supply list.... Will try to update things on here as we progress.

Lightweight? OK, maybe for her era but there's nothing "light" about her.

First 2013 session

A little swell filled in overnight and I finally got in my first session of the new year. A very comfortable mid January morning offerd up some fun little knee to waist high longboard worthy slides. Water temp was actually up a few degrees from my last surf. Balmy 48 degree water along with 43 degree air temps at this time of year is not too bad. Not to bad at all.... :)

Mind Surfing...

As we await our first swell of 2013, any down time is spent recalling memories of swells past. There looks to be a chance for a small bump tomorrow into the weekend. So here's hoping that it actually shows.

Larry C. my San Diego connection, sent over a little temptation via email this past week. A couple 11 footers from "the Man" himself. A gorgeous triple stringer and an EPS glider that Marc made for himself when he was recovering from his back injury a year or so ago but really never got round to riding it much.

Two great looking boards up for grabs at very sweet prices. If I lived in the land of many pointbreaks, I would be quite tempted to jump on one of these. Since I do not, I will just have to enjoy mind surfing them instead!

Beach Clean up @ the Rocks

Our first beach clean up of the year over at the Rocks. Nice turnout on a pleasant January day. Filled Matt's truck 4 or 5 times and got rid of some hazards unearthed by Hurricane Sandy back in October.

Hobie got dinged...

We came home the other night to find Hobie under the back steps and not being her normal mischievous self. Our household veterinary staff has patched her up and she's steadily returning to her normal looney-tune self.

Happy New Year!

Rolled over to the Rocks this morning to drop off some treats for the deer and strolled over the dunes to say hello to Mother Ocean for the first time this year. Picked up a little trash off the beach and passed along some Mahalos for all the good times in 2012. Here's to a safe, healthy and happy 2013!
