Happy Memorial Day!

A very Happy Memorial Day to all of my fellow veterans and to all of our service men and women out there serving in harm's way.
Our most heartfelt thanks and respect to those that "gave all" in their service to our nation.

Wax off

Got off early on Friday, nice sunny day but the onshore breeze and low tide put a damper on the "just go surf" option... Figured it was time to get the tacky winter wax off.

Sick Day!

Had to call out sick today. Just wasn't feeling up to going to work.... ;) Checked CM first and ended up over at the rock pile, aka Trestles, aka CG Beach... AM session was fun with just a few guys out. Jeff Walden was tearing the place up as usual. Went back in the afternoon to find it a little bigger and a little all over the place. Guys were getting some pretty sick waves in the head high range with a few bigger sets rolling through. I took a few beatings and was toast after an hour or so. LB had a blast on the beach with the Walden "ladies". Had to drag him off the beach...

Ground swell!

All of CM was looking pretty fun this afternoon. Ended up at Queen St right after work. Warmer water had several guys trunking it for the first time this spring. A few familiar faces in the line up and some decent sets rolling through with regularity. Enough waves to go around and a mello vibe for the most part. Had several real fun waves in the head high range. Got a little cocky late in the session and took off on a late right and took my board in the ribs. Still tender tonight but hopefully not bad enough to bother me in the AM. Tomorrow looks to be better than tonight... Fingers crossed.

ChuckD grabbed my camera on his way out yesterday and snapped a few of yours truly... He got a few good shots, sadly the kook in the photos was either bent over at the waist or just showing poor form. Those photos, will stay safely in the camera....

Waves!

Fun surf the last two nights. Queen St. last night and the rock pile today. Some clean little bumps rolling in tonight, not much in length but still pretty fun.

Think she said her name was "Maddie". Surfs ESA girls 12-14. She was getting into some nice ones.

A lot of great looking boards. I had to behave myself and keep my $$$ in my pocket this trip. Sold two out of the three boards I took up. The Coop came home with me and that's not a bad thing. Saw a few folks I had met previously and met a few new people as well. Good time.

Saturday

Headed over to the rock pile in hopes of finding a little bump this morning. No joy. Maybe ankle to shin with a stiff NW breeze. Had hoped to make it last night but missed another opportunity to get wet. Heard Thursday late afternoon was fun. I spent too many hours this week working in the yard and on the pool when I should've just gone surfing.

On a positive note, helped this little "jaywalker"
out of the road this morning.

Rolled over to the rock pile yesterday after work and found a perfect little wave working. A few people out when I arrived but they departed shorty thereafter. LB did some sandcastle construction on the beach on what was a near perfect afternoon. 3/2 and no gloves for the first time this year. Super fun little sliders made for a real fun session. A pod of dolphin showed up as we were about to leave and put on an aerobatic show for us. LB was stoked!

Jeff Walden was taking a stroll with his daughter and brother visiting from NorCal. He was kind enough to snap a photo of your's truly, sliding left. :) If you have ever surfed here, you most likely shared some water time with Jeff. The man is a class act in the water as well as on the beach.......... Mahalo Jeff.
