Left work at lunch today to catch a surf in town. One of the better choices I've made in a while. Snapped this one as I was leaving.

Long Liddles
The board history that came along with my 9'9" Greg Liddle had it being made at some point in the later 1970s. While browsing the Liddle photo archives, I came across another 9'9" that was submitted by the original owner. His was a custom order in 1977 and was made while Greg's shop was in Woodland Hills, CA. I've gone back and forth looking at the two side by side and I can't help but wonder if his custom order may have spawned the one I own????
Bob Corey's 9'9" custom. Amazingly, only surfed once! |
My 9'9" Liddle. Surfed a lot, with many more slides to come... |

Paddling out in the dark.....
With a busy Saturday morning ahead, I had to get wet early this AM. Haven't paddled out in the dark in a long while. Was nice to watch the morning come on from the line-up. Surf was decent enough with some lumpy chest high sets rolling in. Gregg Reich came out right behind me and we had it to ourselves for a hour or so before having to rush home for Opening Day at the Little League fields...

Surf Movie Night
Good times at the Goofyfoot's Garage last night. First surf movie night of the year was a hoot and lasted well into the early morning. Our buddy Charlie Shaffer suprised us all when he pulled up in the driveway. He won the furthest traveled award coming in all the way from Juneau, AK. Actually, he was in VA for training and drove up for the weekend. Good time with good friends. Can't beat it.

Saturday Sunrise
Having missed out on the late afternoon swell yesterday I was jonesing to get wet this morning. Nice sunrise on the drive over but the swell really wasn't all that I was hoping for. A little disorganized 2' - 3' but still managed a fun hour and a half before the north wind turned on and chopped things up. Everyone else either slept in or didn't think it would be worth the effort.
