After what seemed like several weeks of daily ridable swell, things have flattened out a bit. Here's hoping tomorrow's forecast holds true and we get a little bump for a few days..... ALOHA!!!

Saturday morning rainbows ....
Small, glassy and lined up early AM session today. The SW flow we've had for the last week has provided some fun surf all week. Made it out several late afternoons and scored some crazy long rights Thursday night. Water temps dropped mid week and the toes were getting kinda numb after a couple hours. Really missed having my camera this morning. Not only were the waves fun they were looking good too. Rainbows over the backs as they peeled along the sandbars. Nice way to wake up on a weekend. Aloha!

Smokey's YYZ
Dropped off some work for Smokey on Sunday up in the OC. While at the shop I "had" to head upstairs and take another look at the Zeph shapes. Had spoken to Smokey about the 9'8" YYZ previously and he offered to loan me his to test drive. Took him up on the offer and had a chance last night to get this one wet. Waves were OK but not ultra ideal for log riding. After a few short rights I finally got into one that walled up and allowed me the chance to get up on the nose and really get a feel how well it went. Had several more waves that let me get up on the nose and was stoked to be able to just stand there on the tip and glide. No hint of the nose dipping under water, very stable underfoot and just oh so smooth. Not sure how to explain the rails and the bottom concave, very unique (IMHO). What ever the case, it works!

DARK FALL
Went up to the DARK FALL premiere at the House of Blues in AC. Nice venue and a good film as well. Heard a few guys didn't have rave reviews but I thought it was one of the best east coast surf films to date. Really cool to see the local talent ripping on the big screen. Well deserved hoots throughout the show and great footage of all the spots so many of us NJ crowd hold dear. Good time with good friends as well. Filled the DD role so some of these surf nuts could make it home in one piece. :)

Well......
My camera officially died this week. Not real sure how... Seemed like it had come back to life after I noticed a bit of moisture in the battery slot. Whatever life did come back was only temporary. So much for "waterproof"....
Did receive a photo from Maggie Marsek that I ordered last week. A neat photo of a St. Luke statue she photographed in Mexico a few years ago. Going to find a nice spot in LB's room to display it. Check out her "Sea Layer" blog or log onto her site at www.maggiemarsek.com
Fun waves yesterday morning in the Cove. First time I've surfed there in quite a while. :)

Sunset session
Headed over to the rockpile around 7 with hope there would be a little bump in the water. Found some small super clean little low tide zippers all to my lonesome. After one of the hottest workdays of the summer, it felt good to slide into the cool water.
Every surf of late carries a special meaning with all the chaos going on down in my native Gulf of Mexico. I cannot imagine, nor do I want to imagine, that happening here. I only hope and pray that they will get the leak stopped so the healing of the Gulf can begin. When will we wake up? If this isn't the signal for us to kick our lust for oil, I do not know what is.....
Beautiful sunset tonight, BTW..... :)
